On September 16, past self make their Romanian debut at Control. Formed in Las Vegas by Sung (vocals/guitar), æther (keys), and Spektor (bass), the trio channel darkwave, post-punk, dream pop, and ethereal textures through a bilingual mix of Korean and English lyrics. Pulling visual cues from visual kei and sonic influences from bands like The Cure, Molchat Doma, Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, and The Horrors, their sound drifts between melancholy, haze, and cold dancefloor momentum. The band first emerged under the name Luxury Furniture Store, leaning toward psychedelia, before the turbulence of 2020 pushed the project into darker territory.
