MALMAISON STUDIOS - THEN AND NOW In 2020, a group of artists rented the first floor of a building on Calea Plevnei in Bucharest. A year later, the community expanded by occupying the second floor. Since then, Malmaison Studios has gone through periods of growth, consolidation, and contraction, shaped by the increasing pressure of rising rental costs. Starting from this history, the presentation explores how a self-organized artistic community develops collective forms of organization and creates a context that influences the artistic practices of its members.
